Yokohama F.M. Welcomes Sagan Tosu

The Japan J1-League is the top league of the Japanese professional football league and one of Asia’s most successful leagues in club football. In 1992, the Japan J-League was established in the Asian country as a professional football league with eight teams from JSL Division A, Division B and the newly established Shimizu S-Pulse. The top league of the league system is the J.League Division 1 (J1) with 16 teams, the second is the J.League Division 2 (J2) with ten teams, and the third is the Japan Football League (Former Second Division). In the early years until 1992, the top club football league was the Japan Football League (JSL), which included non-professional teams.

Yokohama F. Marinos will come into play after drawing 1-1 in the J1 league against Consadole Sapporo in the last match. Sagan Tosu won their previous game with a score of 1 – 0 against Urawa Red which means that they are currently ranked 6th in the J1 League.

The last league match with these teams was in the 26th round of the J1 League match on 25/08/2021, and the score ended with Sagan Tosu 0:4 Yokohama F. Marinos. This season in J1 Yokohama, F. Marinos averaged 2.5 points per home game, while Sagan Tosu averaged 1 point per game away. We feel that in the game, Yokohama F. Marinos is likely to score the kind of goals that Yokohama F. Marinos needs against Sagan Tosu, who will be opposed to them scoring goals.

The action of the J1 League beckons both teams, where they are separated by only five-point in the table. Sagan Tosu is yet to lose a game in this year’s edition. The top three clubs will qualify for the AFC Champions League next year. The third club will enter the playoffs to play against the team that won the Japan Professional Football League playoffs. At the same time, the bottom two teams in the standings will be promoted to Japan J-League 2.

Though Yokohama F.M. lost against Kashiwa Reysol 3-1, they made a good comeback by winning the next two games with clean-sheets against Vissel Kobe and Shimizu S-Pulse. Yokohama F.M. will now look to get back on winning track and grab the first position in the league. A late goal in the last match against Consadole Sapporo in the added time, Yuki Saneto rescued a point for them. The draw saw four yellow cards for Yokohama F.M. and only a single yellow card for Sapporo. Sagan Tosu won it comfortably against the Red Diamonds.

Sagan Tosu, who are yet to face a defeat in the league this year, will have a challenging task ahead of them when they go against Yokohama F.M.; the match will be exciting as a win for Yokohama will take them to the top though they have played two more games than Sagan Tosu.

Watch out for the fireworks which will take place when these two teams meet in Yokohama.
